STOLL | SALON STOLL | SALON ABOUT STOLL
Tucked away in an airy floor-through between University and Fifth, Stoll Salon epitomizes the very best of the Greenwich Village experience. That is, we’re as smart, sophisticated, highly professional and supremely skilled as we are welcoming, friendly and laid back.

When you come to Stoll, you’ll find our staff genuinely happy to see you, and a team of experts ready to offer you thoughtful advice and top-notch, unhurried service.

Because we believe that every day should be a good hair day, we make sure your experience at Stoll is as satisfying as the easy-to-wear hair you walk out with.

When you look good, so do we. Check us out on Facebook, Yelp and CitySearch.

Interpreting the Trends

Cut. Color. Highlights. Shape and texture.

The long and the short of it is that when it comes to hair, there are no absolutes. “Right” is the result of perfect cutting and color that complements both your features and the way you live your life.

At Stoll, we make it our business to stay ahead of the trends. But our scissors and brushes go in many different directions. Bottom line: cookie cutters are for cookies and assembly lines are for manufacturing. We work closely with our clients, respecting their schedules but giving them the time and undivided attention they deserve.

Environment

Enter Stoll Salon, and breathe easy. Our décor is clean and minimalist, emphasizing natural materials, soft tones and soothing Eastern accents. Natural daylight streams in from our street-side windows, blending with the diffused illumination of mother-of-pearl box-framed mirrors. (We’ll never understand why so many salons underestimate the importance of good lighting.) Moving back, past our somewhat risqué frosted glass changing rooms, a glass milk-bottle light fixture suspended from the ceiling adds a whimsical touch.

Location

You’ll find Stoll two blocks south of the Union Square Subway station, where the 4, 5, 6, N, Q R and L all converge. There’s a parking garage on one side. Right downstairs is Marquet Patisserie, where you can get outstanding quiches and the best madeleines in town. Next door to Marquet is The Strip House. Directly across the street is the highly rated Gotham Bar and Grill.

History and Culture

In the late 90’s, a small group of premier stylists and colorists at Vidal Sassoon were determined to find a way to offer their clients a more fulfilling salon experience. Their vision: a welcoming salon that would offer exceptional service in a congenial, non-corporate environment.

The result was Rumor, the salon selected Best of City Search for 2006 and 2007 and featured in Jane, Menswear, Lucky, and Platinum and other top publications. Last year, when premier colorist Stephen Stoll became the new owner, our name changed but our staff remained the same. The transition was seamless, with Stephen perpetuating the values and professionalism that have defined our culture for 8 years.
