COLORISTS
STEPHEN STOLL, Principal

A former clothing designer, Stephen transposed a highly trained eye and affinity for nuances of color, design and texture to a career steeped in the color and texture of hair. A lifelong learner, Stephen is continually refreshing his skills to stay ahead of the beauty curve as products and techniques evolve. Whether color, highlights or straightening, Stephen’s results are silky, radiant and deceptively natural looking. A brilliant communicator and unabashed optimist, Stephen inspires trust that is always borne out in great results.

Stephen says his greatest satisfaction comes from the look on his clients’ faces when the work is done. “I’m changing lives, one strand at a time,” he sometimes jokes. Stephen never asks for hugs from his clients. But more often than not, he gets them -- which pleases him no end.

ROSEMARIE ALLOUCHE

Rumor co-founder Rosemarie Allouche, worked her way up the Vidal Sassoon ranks to become a recognized colorist who was sent by the company around the world to work and train Sassoon colorists in international locations, including London, where she participated in industry hair shows and teach-ins. Back in the U.S., Rosemarie worked in Los Angeles and San Francisco before settling New York City.

Beyond traditional highlights, Rosemarie specializes in well-defined, foil-free panels of color, and lowlights that cover grey without brassiness. In addition to coloring, Rosemarie’s fortes include creative perms and hair extensions of all lengths. Known for her versatility, creativity and interpretation of trends in color, Rosemary has been featured in Jane magazine.

EMILY S GOMEZ

Emily is a graduate of the renowned Aveda Institute of hair, where she graduated first in her class. She began her career at Salon Piermarco in New York City, where she was selected to attend advanced classes with Evolution and Scruples hair color. It was during these classes that Emily discovered her true calling as a color specialist.

After joining Rumor Salon, Emily continued her training in techniques and color with Rosemarie Allouche and Stephen Stoll. During this time she also became a certified Wella Color Specialist. She is best known for her deep, rich tone-on-tone color. Emily says, “If my clients dream it, i can help them achieve it.”

STYLISTS
SU KIM

A former stylist at Vidal Sassoon and Area salon, Sue Kim is known for her creativity, skill and uncanny ability to remain one step ahead of emerging trends, which she translates into personalized, easy-to-wear styles. As Rumor’s co-founder and premier stylist, Su maintains a loyal clientele that includes a number of beauty industry notables.

Su’s keen instincts and diverse skills mean she’s adept across the entire dynamic range of cutting and styling -- from choppy, architectonic avant bobs to romantic cascades of randomly uneven curls. Whether creating a look that’s windswept or tamed, Sue Kim is a firm proponent of wash-and-go. “I give my clients a look they can achieve with ease on their own, at home, without me,” she says. To that end, she happily shares her low-maintenance techniques with her clients. Su has been praised in Menswear and Lucky magazine for her styling versatility and expertise.

HANAKO KATSUKI

Formerly with the Roger Thomson salon at Barneys and then a leading cutter and stylist at Vidal Sassoon, Hanako Katsuki has an exceptional eye, a deft hand, and a low-key perfectionism that has endeared her to the loyal clients who’ve followed her around the City to Rumor, now Stoll Salon. Hanako’s creativity and expertise enables architecturally precise, immaculate cutting for results that are both head-turning and natural, individual and easy to wear. “It all begins with dialogue,” notes Hanako. “I listen before offering suggestions. Sometimes, it’s great to be able to offer a client a solution they may have dreamed of, but didn’t think possible.”

SHIFA ABDULWADOOD

A former stylist at Vidal Sassoon, Shifa has extensive professional industry experience, including hair styling for films and video during Fashion Week in New York City. A real talent who works with a sure hand and understated fluidity, she effects an eclectic range of brilliant styles for her clients, bringing out the beauty she says “was always there, but waiting to be revealed.” Shifa considers her clients partners in the haircutting process, noting that communication continues conversationally throughout. The results speak for themselves, and Shifa’s loyal clients are a testament to that.

JAMIE SWIGGART

Known for her gloriously soft and refined haircuts, Jamie began her training at Vidal Sassoon before honing her skills with internationally acclaimed stylist Roger Thompson and then over 10 years at Area Salon. In addition to salon work, Jamie’s twenty-year career has included both fashion shows shoots and Broadway productions. Jamie has watched trends come and go, and her experience and perspective have given her a widest range of expertise in various techniques and a forté in achieving unique, natural wash-and-go looks. Like all of us at Stoll, Jamie takes her time to cultivate rapport with her clientele. “It’s too easy to make assumptions,” she says. “Of course, I have ideas. But first, it’s important for me to get to know my clients and hear what they have to say.”

NANCY M

A beauty industry veteran who began her career in 1986. Nancy trained extensively with Vidal Sassoon in New York and London, where she did hair shows, editorial work, teach-ins and runway. Back in the U.S., Nancy became an instructor in advanced training for Vidal Sassoon and worked side by side with their famous team, working her way to Assistant Art Director.

With the ten-year creative team of colleagues from Vidal, Nancy took residence at Aerea Salon before bringing her high standards to the talented staff of Stoll Salon. An expert in working with hair textures of men and women of all ethnic backgrounds, Nancy helps a diverse clientele achieve customized, sophisticated looks that require very little maintenance and upkeep.

ANJAN M

He has trained for three years under the creative talent of Su Kim, senior stylist, and co-owner of Rumor Salon, and continues to work closely with the talented staff at Stoll Salon. Anjan is the newest member of the Stoll Salon family. We’re not alone in seeing him as a rising star.
